Energy for Palmdale’s Independent Choice (EPIC) is celebrating Earth Day by encouraging residents to embrace sustainable energy practices and explore clean energy options that benefit both the environment and households.
As spring brings warmer weather and longer days, EPIC is reminding the Palmdale community that every season presents opportunities to practice energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact through smart energy choices.
During the spring season, you and your household can take advantage of several straightforward strategies that can reduce strain on the electrical grid and lower energy costs:
- Shifting energy-intensive tasks outside peak hours (4 to 9 p.m.) helps reduce demand on the grid during high-usage periods.
- Running dishwashers, washers, dryers and other major appliances during off-peak hours makes a meaningful difference.
- Opening windows allows fresh air to circulate through homes, reducing reliance on air conditioning and cutting cooling costs through natural ventilation.
- Regular maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems ensures they operate efficiently, reducing energy consumption and extending equipment lifespan.
As temperatures rise heading into summer, spring presents an ideal opportunity for residents to explore how EPIC’s program offerings can help them stay comfortable while reducing their environmental impact and energy costs.
The Power Choice program removes barriers to clean energy adoption, offering home solar and battery systems with zero upfront costs, no credit check requirements and no property liens. The program offers flexible solutions designed to meet the needs of homeowners, renters and businesses alike, making the transition to solar and battery storage accessible to a wide range of Palmdale residents.
The Your Ride is EPIC program offers rebates on home electric vehicle charging equipment. Eligible participants can receive up to $550 for a wall-mounted level II charger or $250 for a plug-in unit, with one charger per household available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This Earth Day, EPIC invites all Palmdale residents to consider how small daily actions and larger clean energy investments can work together to create a more sustainable community. Whether through simple efficiency measures or comprehensive solar and battery installations, every step toward sustainability makes a difference.
